Mobile application for Blackberry and J2me phones

Challenge

Our customer, a UK software development company specializing in telecom solutions, needed highly qualified Blackberry and J2ME developers to work on their innovative set of mobile applications.

Solution

Softage quickly formed a team of Blackberry and J2ME developers to tackle the task. In cooperation with customer, a first fully operational version was released.

System overview

The system consists of several parts.

The first part of the application is "Mobile Wallet".

The Mobile Wallet allows users to:

•  Associate their mobile account with their credit cards
•  Perform payments using these cards via application interface
•  View completed transactions

The second part is Mobile Trade application that represents a virtual mobile marketplace for system users. It allows you to:

•  Place your goods up for sale
•  Purchase goods using your Mobile Wallet

The third part of the system is Mobile Booking application. It allows:

•  Book plane tickets
•  Search for items on Amazon.com and purchase them

The application consists of client and server parts. Application uses custom protocol over HTTP/HTTPS to connect to the server. Custom user interfaces have been developed by Softage specialists in order to provide for great usability. The application works on both J2ME and Blackberry mobile phones.

Server part: J2EE, Servlet, JDBC, Apache Tomcat 5.5 application server, Firebird 1.5 database
